Year 12 attend “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest” at The Old Vic

As part of the exclusive opportunity for our Year 12: Take the Lead programme we visited the incredibly prestigious theatre, The Old Vic last Wednesday.

‘Take the Lead’ is a free employability programme that uses theatre techniques and creative workshops to build on five core skills: communication, self-management, self-belief, teamwork and problem solving.  This programme equips students with those key fusion skills that employers require.  The finale of the programme is a trip to the theatre; this will also develop their cultural capital.

The students watched “One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest”, a play based on a famous novel. The play explored themes such as, power, conformity, freedom and individuality which remain highly significant to modern audiences. Students were challenged to think differently as they were exposed to new perspectives and worlds of thought.

Watching actors such as Aaron Pierre and Giles Terra bring the characters to life elevated the wonderful experience, immersing the students into the world of the play itself.

Thank you to The Old Vic and Take the Lead for the experience.
