Jeremy Corbyn Visits ICS for an engaging Q&A Session

Last Friday, our sixth form had the unique opportunity to welcome former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn for an inspiring visit and a lively question-and-answer session with students. He spoke about key social issues, including national concerns like nuclear weapons, education and social inequality, as well as local Islington issues such as has homelessness, community services and youth opportunities. Students had the chance to ask questions and Mr Corbyn responded thoughtfully, encouraging debate, critical thinking and active citizenship. The visit was a memorable experience, leaving students inspired to engage with both local and national issues.

Co-hosting the Jeremy Corbyn talk has been one of the highlights of my time as a student at ICS. It gave me the invaluable opportunity to speak with an MP who has extensive experience in public service and politics, as well as to have some of my most curious questions thoughtfully answered. He was highly charismatic, and his responses were insightful and well considered. It was a genuine privilege to meet him and I am very grateful to the school for organising such a memorable event. Chairing the Q&A with Jeremy Corbyn was an unforgettable, almost surreal experience. Speaking with such a senior and respected figure in British politics offered invaluable insight into the human judgement behind policy-making and I am truly grateful for the opportunity. Alima – Year 12

Thank you to Mr Chapman, our History and Politics teacher for organising the visit, and to students Anusha, Eden and Alima who chaired the session so professionally.
