ICS Student Leaders Attend City of London Education Board Dinner

On 4 June, Head Prefect Andrew and Deputy Head Prefect Faridah represented ICS at the annual City of London Education Board Dinner, held in the historic Crypts at Guildhall.

The event brought together student leaders, educators and professionals from across the City of London’s family of schools and wider educational community. This year’s theme, Social Mobility, focused on the importance of ensuring that all young people have access to opportunities that enable them to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Throughout the evening, Andrew and Faridah engaged in discussions with fellow student leaders and guests from across the City’s educational network. The event highlighted the vital role that education, aspiration and meaningful connections with employers and professional sectors can play in supporting young people’s future success.

The entire experience last night was perfect. We felt very welcomed and appreciated the opportunity to introduce ourselves in the crypts. The guest talk about social mobility was extremely thoughtful and insightful. The dinner itself was an amazing experience. The food was excellent. As a student in education, I greatly enjoyed conversing with members of the City of London, sharing our experiences with education and its role in social mobility. – Andrew, Head Prefect

The dinner also provided an opportunity for students and educators to reflect on how schools, businesses and community organisations can work together to broaden horizons and create pathways into higher education and professional careers. Speakers and attendees emphasised the importance of ensuring that young people are aware of, and able to access, the opportunities available to them across London and beyond.

Also in attendance was Mr Prince Gennuh, Head of City of London Academy Highgate Hill, who joined students and colleagues from across the City of London family of schools.

We are proud of Andrew and Faridah for representing ICS at this prestigious event and for contributing thoughtfully to conversations about opportunity, aspiration and social mobility for young people across the City of London.
