Baroness Lola Young Visits ICS

In December 2025, students at ICS had the opportunity to meet Baroness Lola Young, a member of the House of Lords, during a special visit. She shared her journey of becoming a member of the House of Lords and her personal values and beliefs.

“I was very impressed by the quality of the questions and the enthusiasm shown throughout the session” Baroness Lola Young

The Politics students were given in-depth discussions and valuable insight into Baroness Young’s experiences and had a Q&A session on the function of the Houses of Lords and Baroness Young’s experiences.

Baroness Young proved to be a massive inspiration to the students as she is a living example that it is possible to succeed despite difficult circumstances. Growing up in care, she went on to become an academic and a member of the House of Lords, proving that background does not limit potential. Her work on equality and social justice is admirable. Her visit was eye-opening for many students, encouraging us to think more deeply about own ambitions, voices and the impact we can have beyond the sixth form.

We would also like to say a thank you to Mr Chapman for organising the visit, which was a memorable and motivating experience for students at ICS.
