A level results day: congratulations to our Class of 2025

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 ‘A team’ at Islington Collegiate where more than half of grades were A* to A

Students at Islington Collegiate Sixth Form, the Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ post-16 offer at City of London Academy Highgate Hill, are celebrating today as they receive top A level results.

The second ever cohort at Islington Collegiate Sixth Form celebrated together this morning with more than half of all grades an A* or A. Ayla (second right), achieved three A* grades and secured her place to study Law at University of Nottingham. Ayla attributes her success to the Law Emerging Talent programme at ICS, which empowered her to think critically and built her confidence to study at a Russell Group university.

Principal, Prince Gennuh, of the ‘Outstanding’ sixth form at City of London Academy Highgate Hill, said:

“I’m delighted for our students receiving their A level results today. I’m especially proud of students like Sophie (right) who has been with us at Highgate Hill since Year 7 and worked hard to secure her place at ICS, our high-achieving sixth form. That hard work has paid off as she’s now one of a number of students going to Cambridge University.”

Reflecting on a year of exceptional outcomes and academy improvement, Chief Executive of City of London Academies Trust, Mark Emmerson, said:

“Congratulations to our students on their hard-earned results. Their individual achievements are a true cause for celebration and cap a brilliant year for City of London Academies Trust. A year in which all four Ofsted inspections ranked ‘Outstanding’ with excellent academic progress across all our academies. Thank you to our dedicated staff whose hard work makes days like these so rewarding for everyone involved.”

Building on a year that saw City of London Academy Southwark achieve its best ever A level results, and Islington Collegiate Sixth Form ranked in the top 1% nationally for pupil progress. This year, with London Nautical joining the Trust, a record number of post-16 students will receive the top grades needed to secure a place at a leading university or employer.

Catherine McGuinness, Chair of City of London Academies Trust, said:

“I want to congratulate our pupils on their results. These achievements reflect your hard work, resilience, and ambition – and we are very proud of you. I also want to recognise the vital role of our sponsor, the City of London Corporation. Its unwavering commitment to education helps our academies deliver excellence across London.

But the Trust’s mission goes beyond qualifications. We’re raising aspirations, opening doors, and creating real opportunities for the future. Social mobility is at the heart of everything we do – and with the City Corporation’s support, we’re building a future where every young Londoner can thrive.”

City of London Academies Trust is committed to growing its offer and providing more young Londoners with exceptional, often life-changing, educational experiences.

If you’re looking for a sixth form that aims to deliver exceptional results combined with rich cultural experiences, there’s still time to apply to join ICS.
