ICS at the 2025 Mock COP Climate Conference
Published: Tue 25 November 2025On Monday 10th November, our students had the incredible opportunity to take part in a Mock COP Conference hosted at City of London School. The day was designed to mirror the real COP climate negotiations, giving students the chance to experience what it’s like to be global leaders tackling one of the most urgent issue of our time, Climate change.
Students then stepped into the roles of country delegates, presenting research, debating policies, and negotiating agreements on climate action. Our school was proud to have six students representing different nations: Shreyas – Australia, Aseel – Barbados, Joseph – Chile, Felix – India, Chantelle – Nigeria, Shumaylah – U.A.E, Ifat – U.S.A.
Throughout the day, they explored topics such as carbon reduction strategies, renewable energy adoption, and international cooperation, while developing key skills in leadership, diplomacy, and critical thinking. This experience was not only educational but empowering—showing how young people can play a vital role in shaping a sustainable future. A huge thank you to InterClimate Network for making this event possible.
“The climate conference event allowed me to gain a deeper insight as to how difficult it actually is for countries with different objectives and economies to agree on climate related proposals through having the opportunity to debate climate issues with the other delegates representing each country. We also heard from CLS how their school has become more eco-friendly and discussed some ways in which ICS can too. Overall, I’m really grateful to have participated in the event as it was very interesting to tackle the issue of climate change in difficult situations.” Shumaylah
